Melvin Lloyd Turner

Melvin Lloyd Turner, known to many as Uncle Mel, 83 years old, of Ocala, Florida,
passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at his home.
Mel was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Ralph Turner and Marion McLeod Turner.
He graduated from Umatilla High School. After one year at the University of Florida, he
joined the Air Force and spent 4 years serving our country. After leaving the Air Force,
Mel returned to the University of Florida. He was the weather man at Channel 20 in
Gainesville for about 10 years. He loved to fly and owned a small airline called the
Sopwith Camel. He also had a lighting/sound equipment business. After retiring, he
moved to Ocala where he was a radio DJ and became a computer genius who loved to
help people maintain their computers and keep them up to date. One of Mel's favorite
things was music-all genres, and could share lots of music history.
Mel was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister. He leaves to mourn many
close friends.
A memorial service for Mel will be held at Roberts of Ocala Downtown Chapel located at
606 SW 2nd Avenue, on Sunday, November 16th at 5pm.
Memorial donations may be made in Mel's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
