Patrick (Pat) Campana, 88, formerly of Xenia, passed away in Lady Lake, FL on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born on August 30,1937, in Anderson, IN and grew up in Xenia, OH. He graduated from St. Brigid Catholic School in 1955. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served in Vietnam and other duty stations from 1956 through 1967. After his service in the Marine Corps, he worked at General Motors in Dayton, OH.
In his off time, Pat enjoyed harness racing. First as a driver and owner, then ultimately making a career of it as a judge with the United States Trotting Association at various harness racing tracks including Scioto Downs and Lebanon Raceway in Ohio along with The Red Mile in Lexington, KY. Pat also enjoyed working at Greene Memorial Hospital in his later years then volunteering as a shuttle driver at a local hospital at The Villages in Florida. where he would have lifesaver mints to share with those visiting the hospital.
Pat grew up loving horses and watching Westerns. He enjoyed watching the Three Stooges, playing golf, going out on his pontoon boat hoping to catch lots of fish, taking drives looking for deer, and enjoying Young’s Dairy with family.
Pat is survived by his wife Joyce Campana; son Christopher (Raye) Campana of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter Susan (Russ) Burleson of Georgetown, TX; step-daughters Julie (Terry) Suitts of Kettering, OH, Suzie Deis of Dayton, OH and Joan (Dennis) Heydinger of Lady Lake, FL; grandchildren Leslie Campana, Kathryn Campana, Jennifer (Shane) Contner, Robert Burleson, Emily Burleson; great-grandchildren London Cooper and Mason Contner. He is proceeded in death by wife Deanne (Bickett) Campana; sister Rosita (Campana) McCarthy; and parents Russell and Edna Campana.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Xenia, OH. on Friday, May 8th, 2026 at 10am followed by a Celebration of Pat’s Life at St. Brigid’s School Recreation Hall. Internment will be held at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia on Saturday, May 9th at 10am. Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.
