Catherine L. Mulvey

Catherine Lee Mulvey, 76, of Ithaca, New York, passed away on September 20, 2025. Catherine was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on December 31, 1948. She spent her life guiding children with love, patience, and compassion-as a teacher in Georgia and New York and as a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a true lover of life and learning, always eager to share with others. Cathy was a maker, nurturer, and grower. She "crafted" in all senses of the word, with love and joy for gardening, basketry, potting, knitting, weaving, and other handcrafts. As an avid reader and traveler, she built lifelong friendships and gave of herself through volunteering. In recent years, she cared for injured birds at the Cornell Raptor Center. In all of her endeavors, Catherine optimistically created beautiful spaces and useful objects to aid our lives. Cathy is survived by her children and their spouses, Eric Mercovich (Amy), Keith Mercovich (Anna), Ryan Mercovich (Sharon), and their father John, her grandchildren Celia (Gabriel), Lily, John, Archer, Charlotte, Anthony, and Clara, her brother Robert, and her sisters Christine and Barbara. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents John and Clara Mulvey, and her brother John. Memorial donations may be directed to The Cornell Raptor Program.
