David Byron Gahn went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2025 at the age of 78 years.
Predeceased by his parents, Edward D. Gahn Jr. and Kathryn F. (Smith) Gahn; his cousins John Gahn and Walter Kepner Jr.; and a nephew Peter Stine.
Survivors include David's wife of 55 years, Coralie; brother, Daniel Gahn (Dryden NY); sisters, Deborah Gahn (Ron Ward) of Freeville NY and Donna Gahn Stine (Freeville NY); nephews and nieces: James Bravado (Marie; NC); Lee David Stine (Janelle; NY); Denise Cook (John, UT) and their children Zaciah and Vyla. Also survived by cousins Jay Kepner, Kevin Gahn, Robert Gahn, Douglas Gahn, Jeff Gahn, Cheryl Marr, all of the mid-to-western US, and Rick Gahn (NYS). Also survived by very good friends David Deibler (GA), Ron Howard (FL), and Tom Herring (WA).
David graduated from Dryden Central School in Dryden NY in 1965. He graduated from State University of NY at Farmingdale, Farmingdale, NY with an AAS Degree in Advertising Art Design in 1968. David Also attended Tompkins-Cortland Community College, Dryden, NY, receiving his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in 1974.
David served as a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class from October 1968 to May 1971, receiving an Honorable Discharge.
In July 1971 to May 1974, David worked at the Tompkins County Hospital as a Physical Therapy Assistant. He worked for the County Ambulance Service as an Emergency Medical Technician from 1966-1974. David worked for US Airways as a customer Service Agent from November 1980 to September 2001. David also was a driver for Gadabout, (Senior and disabled transport), in Tompkins County, NY from 2002-2008.
Some of his favorite activities included driving his old cars: 1930 Chevy coupe (hot rod), 1935 Chevy sedan (original) and 1937 Chevy pick-up (hot rod); walking and hiking with Coralie (Black Diamond Trail, Watkins Glen Gorge Trails, and Taughannock Falls Gorge Trails); and traveling by airlines (as far as Amsterdam, Holland) and by train across the US with Amtrak.
On Friday, September 5, 2025 there will be calling hours from 9:30AM to 11:00AM and a funeral service from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1019 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca, NY. A grave side service will follow at Fayette Rural Cemetery, Route 414, Fayette, NY at 12:30PM. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations in David's name be made to either

The Family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Aides at the Groton Community Health Care Center for their care of David for the past year. Some of you treated him like he was your very own loved one and we appreciate that.
