Bobby Carl Thompson, II was born on August 16, 1978, in
Asheville, North Carolina, to Carl and Mary Thompson. He was a lifelong resident of Asheville and a proud graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School, Class of 1996.
As a young man, Bobby attended New Bethel Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and developed a strong faith and guiding principle - "it is better to give than to receive." He lived by those words every day until his peaceful sunset on October 24, 2025.
Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Carla Thompson. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted parents, Carl and Mary Thompson; his sisters, Angela Destiny, Helena Gray, and Charlene Pea; and his brothers, Charles "Chuck" Thompson and Rodney Chambers. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces Aereil Moore, Ursula Pea, Genesis Harrod, Charnell Thompson, Cherisse Thompson, Mariah Thompson, Kayla Thompson, Jaelyn Hunter, and Jolie Thompson, as well as his nephews Monyell Gray, Joseph Harrod, Chistopher Thompson, Cameron Thompson, and Jamell Hunter Jr.
To know Bobby was truly to love him. He was known for his kind and generous spirit, his calm and gentle demeanor, and a smile that could light up any room. Bobby had a way of making everyone feel valued - offering a listening ear, wise counsel, and unconditional love. He was often described as gentle, caring, nurturing, and above all, a loyal friend.
Although he never had biological children, Bobby loved his nieces and nephews as his own. He touched countless lives with his selflessness and compassion. Even in times of personal hardship and declining health, Bobby never complained. He remained thankful to God for the blessings of his life, facing every challenge with quiet strength and grace.
Bobby gave people their flowers while they were here - laughing, singing, praying, and sharing joy with all who knew him. His family meant the world to him, especially his sister Carla. When she transitioned to be with God, a piece of Bobby's heart went with her. Now, their spirits are reunited in Heaven, singing together among the angels.
Let the life he lived speak for him.
