Gilbert Alexander Obituary

Gilbert Jefferson Alexander, 81, of Hendersonville, went on his heavenly flight leaving his battle of cancer behind. He was born to Clemeth and Carl Alexander of Avery Creek and lived in the Avery Creek area all his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two half-brothers. Gilbert was of the Baptist faith and attended Fletcher First Baptist Church in Fletcher. After 27 years of service, he retired from Wilson Art in Fletcher in 2007. He loved being outdoors, working in the garden, working with his hands in his building or being at the family cabin riding the 4-wheeler. He loved to travel, going on bus tours with Christian Tours or just taking a day ride with Maxie, never knowing where they would end up. They enjoyed life together. He is survived by his loving wife, Maxie Stanley Alexander, whom he spent the last 21 years with and married in June 2016; daughter, Janice Gilbert (LeRoy) Fletcher, NC; stepdaughter, Colleen Johnson (Rook) of Jenkins, KY; brother-in-law, Alan Stanley (Faye) of Hendersonville; and numerous cousins and dear friends. Per Gilbert's wishes, a graveside service will be held 12:00 pm, Wednesday, September 3, 2025 in the Meadow Gap Family Cemetery, located at the head of Long Branch in Madison County. Rev. Roy Waldroup and Rev. Wilson Bishop will officiate. Gilbert will be missed by many. We'll see you again my love. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralservice.org.
