Paul Giacobbe Obituary

In Loving Memory of Paul John Giacobbe
April 3, 1967 – October 16, 2025
Paul John Giacobbe, a retired United States Army Sergeant, former Florida Police Officer, beloved husband, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 58, in Fairview, alongside his devoted wife, Kimberley Lynn Nesbitt Giacobbe, in a sudden and tragic event that left family and friends in deep sorrow.
Born in Hollywood, Florida, Paul dedicated his life to serving and protecting others. Before joining the United States Army, he proudly served as a Florida Police Officer, demonstrating courage, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to his community. Following his law enforcement service, he enlisted in the Army, where he honorably served, including a deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Paul's military career earned him numerous accolades, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, and the NATO Medal. His dedication, leadership, and courage left a lasting mark on all who served alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul was a devoted husband, loving step-father, caring father-in-law, proud grandfather, devoted son-in-law, supportive brother-in-law, cherished uncle, and proud nephew. He brought warmth, humor, and wisdom to his family and friends, leaving an enduring legacy of love, guidance, and compassion.
Paul was deeply treasured by his family and friends, and he left behind memories full of warmth, laughter, and love. He was affectionately known by his granddaughter as "Grumps," a nickname that came to symbolize the special bond they shared. Whether they were playing dress-up, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments were among his most beloved.
He also held a cherished place in the hearts of his great-nephews, who always looked forward to his enthusiastic presence-whether it was going on outdoor adventures, attending their ballgames, or exploring the world together with Paul leading the way.
In his element in the kitchen, Paul loved to cook Italian dishes, filling his home with the comforting aroma of pasta and sauce. Ironically, while he disliked fruits and vegetables, he delighted in preparing meals for his beloved bulldog, Mollie-serving chicken and rice or hearty meatballs, just to show his love in his uniquely playful way.
Paul was equally at home outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and the rhythm of nature. He took pleasure in lawn work, building things with his tools, painting pictures, rock mining and hiking alongside his great-nephews, and spending quiet nights gazing at the stars, planets and meteor showers. His curiosity for the night sky and his love of nature revealed a soul unafraid to keep looking up and exploring.
Paul's life leaves behind more than the sum of his years-he leaves a legacy of joy, generosity, and adventure, and a family forever touched by his spirit.
Veteran Committal Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
