Allen James Keeling passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on April 10, 1938, in Sanford, Florida, Allen lived a life full of curiosity, service, adventure, and love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Lenna Keeling, and his siblings Wayne Keeling, Howard Keeling, and Joyce Bolton. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Karin Printz; his loving siblings Aline Krala, Ann Colwell, Kathy Mooney, and Charles Keeling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shortly after his birth, Allen's family moved to the small town of Walhalla, North Dakota, nestled on the Canadian border. He took immense pride in his North Dakota upbringing and often spoke fondly of the community that shaped him. Later, the family relocated to Southern California, where Allen eventually joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Montauk, New York-a time he treasured for the skills he developed and the experiences he gained.
Allen went on to build a remarkable career as an aerospace engineer, contributing to pioneering work with McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, NASA, and other leading organizations. His engineering brilliance left a lasting impact on the field, and he remained passionate about innovation throughout his life.
A world traveler with a heart open to adventure, Allen especially loved visiting Mexico and Central America. He once famously crossed the border from Costa Rica into Panama on a chicken bus-a journey of over 30 miles that exemplified his zest for life and cultural immersion. He made friends wherever he went and thrived on connecting with people from all walks of life.
In his final three years, Allen moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to be close to his beloved daughter, Karin, who was the light of his life and his proudest achievement.
Allen will be remembered for his generous spirit, brilliant mind, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loyal father, brother, and uncle, and a cherished friend to many. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 21, 2025 at 11 AM at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
