Chris Fredrick Barclay

Chris Fredrick Barclay (nee Barcelona) Born October 5, 1942, to Darlene (Miller) and Chris Barcelona at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver Colorado. He grew up the oldest of six children, whom he loved. Rich Barclay (Dana), Tom Barclay, Gary Barclay (Katherine), Jennifer Hastings (Rex), nephew Christopher (Madison) and niece Jessica Taylor (Sam), Jillann Vorheis (Jim), nephews Trenton and Nicholas. Chris had one child, Todd Barclay (Kerry) with his first wife, and granddaughters Jolynn and Rylee. Chris worked for The St Paul Companies his entire career, briefly in Milwaukee and St Paul, MN, the remainder of his career in Denver Co. From Denver he and Catherine moved to the Seattle area, then to the North Olympic Peninsula of WA where they spent 25 great years enjoying the proximity to all the beaches and woodlands. It was only late 2022 they moved to Arizona. Chris loved the cacti but not the heat or reptiles. His wife Catherine Woodahl worked in the same Denver office where they formed a great friendship then relationship that went on for 36 years. They enjoyed riding their Harleys with friends to the surrounding states, going camping and fishing, traveling to all the corners of Colorado. Chris was known for his very dry sense of humor and his easy friendships. He was a great handyman and liked to lend his help. Chris was proud of his time as a volunteer sheriff's deputy in WA. Most of all, Chris loved all the cats (and dogs) he had over his lifetime, including his biggest "Cat", his wife, Catherine. Chris was loved by his wife, his family, and so many friends. He is leaving a void where he once left laughter. A special expression of thanks and gratitude to all the wonderful staff and volunteers with The Hospice of the Valley who cared so lovingly for Chris from the moment he slipped under their wing, until he went to God's. Without their generous services, Chris' last six months of life would not have been as comfortable. And thanks to the Sun Health Foundation, Benevilla, Duet AZ, Banner Alzheimer's Research Institute for their help fighting Alzheimer's and/or helping the caregivers of those with this horrible disease.
