Donald Zach Obituary
Donald Stanley Zach, Jr. was 70 years old and passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2025 in Peoria, Arizona. He is survived by his wife Ana, his children Brian and Corine (Adolfo), his grandchildren Joaquin and Alejo, his mother, Ann and his brother, Micheal. He is predeceased by his father, Donald Stanley Zach Sr.
Don was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 12, 1955. He went to Lane Technical High School where he participated in football, track, and wrestling and made many lifelong friends.
After college, he became a truck driver for Teamsters Local 705. He then got his real estate license and began selling and renovating homes in the Chicago area. He purchased his first home in Wicker Park, a Victorian greystone built in 1898. He married his wife Ana, and had two children Corine and Brian. In their adventures, they enjoyed trips to Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin to visit Don's parents Don and Ann. They went fishing and skiing in the summers and snowmobiling in the winters. They went sailing in Lake Michigan with Ana's parents Ruben and Nilda. Boating became a lifetime passion.
In 1995, the Zach's moved to Phoenix, Arizona and purchased a boat, even prior to buying a home. He continued his real estate career onto new home sales and expanded into a real estate brokerage. Don and Ana partnered in their careers as well as their family life through and through and side by side. The family explored Arizona with hiking trips in the Grand Canyon, houseboating in Lake Powell and driving through nature preserves across the beautiful landscape. They found their second homestead on their boat Pleasant Horizon in Lake Pleasant.
Over 30 years in Arizona, Don and Ana enjoyed hosting get-togethers for holidays (Especially Christmas) and always had an open door for all to come by. They prepared too much food and decked their home in exuberant lights and decorations. Don loved to share his home and boat with others and celebrate life. He smiled from ear to ear and gave the warmest hugs.
He gave immeasurable support to his entire family, including the care of his mother. He gave guidance to his children as they pursued their dreams, leading them to creative vocations in far away cities. Like his father, Don loved his tools, and he shared his knowledge of construction and materials. He could fix almost anything with his own hands, and he helped Corine and Brian get settled into the homes that they lived in, visiting them from coast to coast.
Don cherished every minute with his grandchildren with his playful disposition and a great sense of humor and discovery. His life was abundant and bright, and he always lived with gratitude and humility.
He will be missed tremendously and his family will continue to live in his honor.
A Memorial Service will be held privately in celebration of his life. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Donald, please visit our floral store.
