Norman J. Bialek

Norman J Bialek 2/14/1934 - 1/27/2025 Norm was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in electrical engineering in 1958. He married Sharon shortly after graduation. Norm started his engineering career in the early days of the space program and worked in Huntsville, Alabama, Palo Alto, California and Houston, Texas before joining the Boeing Company and settling in Bellevue, Washington in 1965. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children hiking, picnicking at Lake Sammamish State Park, playing card games, ping pong and a variety of sports. He supported youth soccer as a parent, coach and referee. Duplicate bridge was his passion, and it was often said he never saw a new convention he didn't have to adopt and introduce to his partners. After a successful career at Boeing, he retired in 1996. For the next 20 years he enjoyed spending the winters in Sun City West and summers in the Pacific Northwest with his children and grandchildren. In 2016, as the grandchildren were off to college and careers, it was time to settle permanently in Arizona. He enjoyed traveling, history, statistics and physics. One of his greatest pleasures was picking the brains of his accomplished grandchildren. Norm is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sharon, daughters Ann Totorica, Dawn (Mark) Bolin, sons Paul (Lisa), Mike (Kris), Tom and Jim, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren (with two more on the way) and his brother Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley and son-in-law Richard Totorica. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, 2/7/2025, 10am at Our Lady of Lords with a reception immediately following at their residence in Sun City West, Arizona.
