Barbara Schnurr Obituary
December 9, 1939 - June 6, 2024
Barbara Jean Schnurr, 84, of Louisville, Colorado, died peacefully June 6th, 2024, at Balfour at Cherrywood where she had been living for the last year and a half.
A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Labor Day Monday, September 2, 2024, at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 920 Kipling St, Lakewood, CO. A reception will follow the service at the church.
Barbara Jean Sturges was born on December 9, 1939 to Jack J. and Lucille Sturges in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was very active in both her church, Trinity United Methodist, and at Highland High School. While attending the University of New Mexico, Barbara met Robert (Bob) Schnurr on a blind date in 1959. The couple married in 1960 at Trinity UMC in Albuquerque. As a devoted and loving parent, Barbara raised three children in Dallas, Texas. Barbara and Bob moved to Boulder, CO in 1983. With Bob's passing in 2012, Barbara lost the great love of her life. She found a nurturing community to live in at Balfour in Louisville, Colorado.
She is survived by: Daughter, Denise (Scott) Ikenberry, Lakewood, CO; Sons, Carl (Carla) Schnurr, Longmont, CO, Eric (Erika) Schnurr, Lucas, TX; Grandchildren, Leah Ikenberry, Lakewood, CO, Paul Ikenberry, Asheville, NC, Aurora Schnurr, Los Angeles, CA, Aidan Schnurr, Fort Collins, CO, Robert and Hannah Schnurr, Lucas, TX; Brother, Joseph (Patti) Sturges, Albuquerque, NM; Sister, Glinda (Steve) Lobdell, Parker, CO; Niece, Darci (Ben) Balkcom, Albuquerque, NM; and Grandnephew, Jackson Balkcom.
