Charles Cooper Obituary

Charles E. Cooper

Courageous, faithful, chivalrous, honest, humble. There are many ways to describe our dad, husband, son, brother, grandfather, friend, parishioner, and bandmate.

He died very peacefully - Charles Emery Cooper, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 - with his family right next to him.

Chuck - to his grandchildren, Pop - was 87. Born July 10th, Wednesday, 1935, in Tucumcari, NM to Pat and Fritz Cooper.

Chuck married Karen L'Heureux from Santa Fe in 1961. She never left Dad's side - held his hand for hours every day during the last few months. He loved her more than life itself. He was completely committed and devoted to our mom. They moved to Albuquerque in 1962 and attended Holy Ghost Parish. Mom and Dad gave their time and love to everyone and so everyone has returned the favor.

Chuck worked for the State of NM and many tech companies throughout his life. He is a US Army veteran. He was a photographer by trade and passion. He was also an avid cyclist and a founding member of Albuquerque Philharmonic. However, his most cherished role was being a grandfather to his 12 grandchildren.

Dad died in the same house he raised his family in for 58 years.

Dad is survived by his wife - Karen; his children - Geoff (Tracy), Jennifer (Luis), Daniel (Caci) and Sarah (Joseph); his grandchildren, Aislin, Lane, Madeleine and Jude; Gabriela and Sophia; Gracie; Thomas, Susan, Camille, Patrick and Catherine; and siblings Jeane Wood, Jacque Cooper and Lee Cooper.

Pop never complained. We miss him terribly but are comforted by his gallant life and faith.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Newman Center on the UNM campus at 10:00 a.m., Friday January 13, 2023. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chesterton Academy - https://www.chestertonabq.com/donate

Much love to you all. Chuck was another dad to all the kids Kernie chased around. Emerson is a part of your family because of it. We can´t thank you enough.
