Elizabeth Hutchinson Obituary

Elizabeth Anne Hutchinson

11/19/1923 - 8/13/2024

At 11:16, Tuesday morning, Betty completed her 100 Year Adventure of Life, serving her family, her country, her friends, and her Lord. As was her style, she took the helm wheel on her final voyage to an eternal and well-deserved happiness. A survivor of a life's difficult times, she lived life with grace, determination, and a clear view of the future. She was involved and active member of the "GREAT GENERATION." She was a great mother and a loving grandmother. "Nana" was generous to all and could get things done!

Betty Created the foodservice division of Hutchinson Fruit Company and worked tirelessly to insure customer service. She personally delivered rush orders to frantic chefs as well as the famous fruit baskets.

She served as coach for her son John's little league. She hauled her daughter, Linda's horse to many competitions. She served on endless community committees, often as Chairwoman. She was an Optimist and a captain of the Seagulls. She wore the "Red Hat." She collected dozens of first place trophies competing in fishing tournaments, boat parades, log races and even poker runs. She was a leading member of the Coronado Cays Yacht Club.

She gave of her time and talents, enthusiastically, when asked. Using her tireless and positive energy, she led many devoted friends and followers to help make the world a better place. Traversing the planet with Linda, brought her great joy.

She arrived at her final journey with joy and a heavenly sense of peach. Above all, she was kind. A life very well lived.

Bon Voyage, Mom. We love you and will miss you.

I worked at Hutchinson Fruit Company for 8 years. I was always treated well there by her. It gave me the opportunity to attend college in the late afternoons and evenings that allowed me to progress up through a PhD in Psychology becoming a Counselor and later a Psychologist. That allowed me to help disabled individuals find their match in employment and to understand that their disabling conditions did not make them any less important and valuable in our world. It was hard work but it was part of the building blocks of who I was and became and I am grateful to her and for that work in my life.

Aunt Betty Anne was my aunt, godmother and a good friend. She always had a hug and smile for me. I will miss her so much. She was generous, strong and loving and loved her family. I will miss you so much Betty Anne, May God be there for you as you reunite with all your family in heaven.

I just heard today that my Aunt Betty Anne has passed away. I remember going to the Fruit Company on the weekends to pick up fresh fruits and veggies, she always asked what fruit I would like. I said I would love a pomegranate, so we would go into the warehouse and she gave me a case of pomegranates. She was a very kind and generous human being and she will be greatly missed by all. Thank you Betty Ann for those precious memories. You were truly the most generous person I ever knew. Rest in peace Betty Ann and know you will be greatly missed. You touched so many lives with your kindness and generosity.
