Eugene W. Peirce Jr., 84, born March 20, 1931 in Oak Park Illinois, passed away April 20th. As an Eagle Scout he attended Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in 1948. He attended Lyon's Township High School and Junior College in Lagrange, Illinois. His family moved to Albuquerque in 1950. He graduated from UNM in Business Administration, and was a member of Phi Delta Theta, Khatali, Delta Sigma Pi business honorary, and was the UNM Intramural Sports Skills Champion from 1952-1953. He was an Air Force pilot from 1953-1957, and retired from the Active Reserves as a Major. He was in Kiwanis from 1958-1965, and served as president and Lt. Governor. An active Republican, he served in the New Mexico Legislature from 1965-1970, and served as the Minority Whip for one term. He sold life insurance for Southwestern Life for many years. He was in the Million Dollar Round Table for 22 consecutive years, and became a CLU in 1964. He achieved his CHFC, and was voted JayCee Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1967. He served on the Girl Scouts board of directors and the UNM Children's Psychiatric Center board of directors. He was a member of St John's Episcopal cathedral and served on the vestry. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene W., and Elisabeth L., and his brother Leonard W Peirce.

He is survived by his sister Elisabeth "Betsy" Peirce Schultz; children Bob Peirce, Betsy Peirce, Peggy (Richard) Mann, Anne (Ronald) Cole; six grandchildren, Ginger (Josh) Duchesne, Linda (Mike) Greenleaf, David Mann, Amy (Nate) Mann-Campbell, Meridian and Niklas Cole; and great-grandson Henry Duchesne, who all affectionately referred to him as "Grandpa Duck"; and former wife Letitia Creveling Peirce.

The family wishes to extend immense gratitude to Melanie Carlson, his caregiver.

Services will be Saturday, April 25th, 3:30pm at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver Ave SW, reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gene's name to the Sangre De Cristo youth ranch at localogy.org.

Sending thoughts and love to all who loved Gene. My fondest memory is once in highschool we were down in Peggy's room at the family home in ABQ playing oldies and Gene came down and danced with us.
