Henry Baisdon Obituary

Henry Clark Baisdon

Henry Clark "Hank" Baisdon was born on October 6, 1926 in Hale Center, Texas and died at home in Albuquerque, NM, on April 9, 2022. At the age of 3, he and his mother, Addie Jim Hedrick Baisdon, moved to House, New Mexico, where he stayed until after graduating from high school, at which time he joined the United States Army and was deployed to Japan and the Philippines near the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged in Dec. 1946, with the rank of PFC.

After many years working in road construction and building houses, he was employed as a shop clerk with Sandia National Laboratories from 1952 to 1981, when he retired and relocated to Truth or Consequences, NM. There he worked for the Chili Bowl bowling lanes and also for ABC Nursery. In 1999 he and his wife, Ellanie, moved to Albuquerque and spent many happy days relaxing, reading, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellanie Sampson, and by his three children, Clark Baisdon and wife Kathy, of New Braunfels, TX; Ron Baisdon of St Joe, AR; and Jean Baisdon of St Joe, AR. He is also survived by his two half-sisters, Helen Estes (Glenn) of Hawley, TX and Ruth Henry Carter (John) of Edmond, OK; cousin Evelyn J Pyles of McMinnville, TN, sister-in-law Mindy Anne Sampson and her son Alexander Daniel Sterling; numerous grand- and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Hank and Ellanie rescued cats and at one time had 120 in their private sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the library or animal rescue operation of your choice.

According to his wishes he has been cremated and there will be no services.
