Hsia-fen Tien Obituary
Hsia-fen Jen Tien, PhD, 78, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM with her husband, daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born in Nanchuan, China, Szechuan Province, on February 2, 1940, the eldest of eight. Hsia-fen married Pei-lin Tien, PhD on August 29 1964, the same year they arrived to the US. They were married for 54 years. Hsia-fen spent her career working as an educator and retired from AHS as a guidance counselor in 1998 when her granddaughter, Sasha, was born. She studied in Taipei, Taiwan, and received her Master's Degree from KU and PhD from UNM. Her happiest times were spent with her four grandchildren, her closest friends, and her beloved iris gardens, surrounded by unconditional love.
Hsia-fen's life will be celebrated and remembered by her surviving family members: husband, Pei-Lin, daughter, Bertha, son-in-law, Mario, granddaughter, Sasha, grandson, Kai and the Jen family which includes her four sisters and two brothers. She will be forever loved and missed.

Hsia-fen and I were friends since the 80's. We taught in the same school in NC.
Over the years We shared our families, hobbies and laughter. I'll miss her....especially the laughter and encouragement she gave.

Hsia-fen was a lovely person, a wonderful spirited lady, and always gracious. She made the world a nicer place, and will be missed.

I was so saddened to hear of Mrs. Tien's passing. She was the sweetest woman and she will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones.
