Jacob Baca Obituary
Jacob Adrian Baca, age 48, of Albuquerque, NM and our family's rock, passed away on April 14, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM. Jake was known for having the biggest heart, a calm demeanor and will always be our gentle giant.
Jacob is survived by his wife, Phyllis Mason-Baca; his children, Brandon Lope (Lisseth), Eric Lope (Welcita), Anthony Lope (Chyna), Morgan Tomlinson-Baca and Jacob Gartin; grandchildren, Leah Lope, Mikayla Emerson, Wyatt Emerson and Nikko Yazzie. He is also survived by his mother, Marylou Baca; brothers, William Baca, Sr. (Billie), Patrick Baca (Sandra), Albert Baca (Gaelynn), Anthony Mason (Maryann); sisters, Mary Catherine Apodaca (Tom), Dymphna Baca (Chris), and Morh Anaya. He leaves behind many cherished uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also touching Jake's life are all his beautiful friends and coworkers from Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center, Albuquerque Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department.
Jake was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pedro and Lucy Baca; maternal grandparents, Frank and Lucy Sandoval; father, Patricio Baca; father-in-law, James Mason; mother-in-law, Edith Williams Mason; brothers, Joseph Edward Baca and John Eloy Baca; brother-in-law, Gary Apodaca; nephew, William Baca, Jr.; sister, Loretta Angela Baca.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque, 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Reception will follow burial at The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, 2121 Edith Blvd. NE. Pallbearers are: Richard Castillo, Charles Poole, Eddie Simpson, Mario Rodriguez, Blaine Warrior, Daryl Butler, James McConnell, Joseph Genaro, Cole Knight, and Donovan Greathouse. Honorary Pallbearers are: Brandon Lope, Anthony Lope, Eric Lope, Anthony Mason, William Baca, Sr., Pat Baca, ALbert Baca, Tom Keesing, Chris Bass, Tomas Apodaca, Daniel Apodaca, Zachary Apodaca, Justin Bacon, Joseph Baca, David Baca, & Mario Baca.

Phyllis, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your hubby, Jake. My heart and deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to you and your family. Jake was a great person on and off work. As a co-worker, he had a great sense of compassion for people. As a friend he had an even deeper passion for his Lord and family. I will always remember Jake as a warm, caring friend. Always willing to help those that couldn't help themselves. I know that I'm a better person for knowing Jake. Prayers for wisdom, strength, courage and understanding during this time of great loss. RIP, Jake! Until we meet again. Enjoy your new home in paradise.
