John N. Gardner
John N. Gardner, age 82, a resident of Las Maravillas, has gone to be with his Lord on Friday, July 16, 2021, following a hard fought battle with dementia and macular degeneration. He had a prestigious career with the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) as a software engineer, where he retired from after 33 years. John loved to travel, do leather and woodwork, scuba dive, fish and camp. He loved his wife and children very much and all his friends at Bosque Farms Community Center, where he and his wife volunteered for many years. John especially loved his cat "Abbie".
John is preceded in death by his dad, Lester Gardner, who died in WWII; his mother, Eva Gibbs; in-laws, Ernest and Laca Chavez; son, Damian Gardner and daughter, Carmel Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife, Ida, of 46 years; daughters, Michelle Baca, Patricia Gardner, Mara Segal and Tonia Pena; son, Anthony Salcido and "adopted" daughter, Sherri Baldonado; brother-in-law, Edward Chavez, and niece, Teresa Westergard; nephew, Tom Coates and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Ambercare, especially Molyka, Joel and Bill. Services will take place on Monday, 7/26/21 at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, beginning with a Visitation at 5:00 PM and a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. The Final Visitation will take place on Tuesday, 7/27/21, at 10:00 AM with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM, and Interment to follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery.
