John Treharn Obituary

Treharn, John Thomas

John Thomas Treharn passed his spirit to his new home on June 18, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

John was born in Warren, Ohio on September 22, 1944 to William & Mary Treharn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; his sisters, Donna, Mary Jo and Pat; and his devoted dog "Buddy".

John graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1958, and attended cosmetology school in Albuquerque NM 1958-59. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He returned home to start his career in cosmetology for 50 years.

John is survived by his wife, Penny of 50 years; one son, Troy Treharn and wife Becky; one granddaughter, Heather Treharn and fiance Zeke Souter; one grandson, Colton Treharn and wife Kayla; nieces, Sharon Smith, Brenda Tolmachoff and Kim Heston; nephews, William Jewel and Jewel II; as well as many other great-nieces and nephews; and one great-grandson, Gunner Treharn, all he loved dearly.

John was a devoted Christian and practiced his faith every day. He enjoyed working in his rose garden, going to the casino, going fishing and going up on his houseboat at Navajo with his family.

Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Riverside Funeral Home of Los Lunas, 820 Main St. NE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
