Joseph Ryan Obituary

Joseph Anthony Ryan

Joseph Anthony Ryan passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2023 at the age of 66. He was born on September 4, 1957 in Albuquerque, NM to Leo D. Ryan and Kathleen L. Nichols who are deceased. Joe grew up in the Northeast Heights and went to Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Pius X High School.

Joe served in the Air Force from 1979-1981 at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington as a weather specialist. Joe married Holly Lynn Bynum in 1980. After his discharge, Joe and Holly moved to Albuquerque where Joe began a long career working for various laundry companies and driving delivery trucks all over Northern and Western New Mexico. He was retired at the time of his death.

Holly passed away in 2013 and after his wife's death, Joe helped take care of his aging parents, enabling them to comfortably stay in their own home until they passed.

Joe had many friends and acquaintances. He was universally liked by all who encountered him and loved by many. He is survived by his brother David, his wife Victoria and many cousins across the country including Dianne McGill and her husband Jack in Sandia Park. Joe also leaves behind his second family in the North Valley including his best friend JoAnn Baca, her sister Mary Anderson and his good friend Pete Chavez.

Internment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. All who wish to attend are invited. There will be no additional services at this time. A celebration of life for Joe will take place at a later date this Spring. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, you hug those close to you tight and tell them you love them.
