Mark Putnam Obituary

Mark Stephen Putnam

Mark Stephen Putnam passed away on December 12, 2025, at his home in Albuquerque, NM. The fourth of five children, Mark was born on Bitburg Air Base, Germany, on October 20, 1958, to Mary Beatley Putnam and Lt. Col. Joseph W. Putnam. Mark's family lived in England, Germany and Australia before moving to Albuquerque, where he lived since 1966. He was a gifted artist, jeweler and sculptor. Mark was also a talented mechanic with a keen interest in restoring vintage British cars. A true craftsman, he could build or repair just about anything.

Predeceased by his parents and his brother, Phil Putnam, Mark is survived by sisters, Bonnie Putnam Verardo and her husband, Walter; Donna Putnam and her husband, Raul Martinez; brother, Michael Putnam and his wife, Katherine; niece, Hollie Putnam and her partner, Bodie Manly; nephew, Mortimer Putnam; niece, Pilar Martinez; sister-in-law, Lin Johnson; and his beloved cat, Riska. The family gratefully acknowledges the love and support of Mark's friends including Jay Campbell, his close friend of 55 years.

Mark left a legacy of beautiful wearable and visual art for his family and many friends to remember him by.

Donations in his memory can be made to the UNM Hospital Neurosurgery Fund (203172) via the University of New Mexico Foundation (unmfund.org).
