Martha McGovern Romero Dean
Romero Dean went peacefully on July 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents J. Edward and Jeanne McGovern, her sister Sarah Luke, daughter Laura Lee, and husband Jack Dean.
Born December 21, 1940, and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, she then toured the country raising three kids as a dutiful military wife for 30 years with her first husband. When the children were older, she entered the retail workforce and eventually settled in Albuquerque. It was through work where she met her second husband Jack. When her retail career ended, she and Jack retired to their ranchette where they travelled, relaxed, worked in the garden, and helped raise two of their grandchildren â€" Michael and Matthew Romero. She had a passion for those boys that was truly special and she was very proud of the young men they have become. She and Jack were together through thick and thin for over 25 years until his passing in 2016.
Her body may be gone, but her story is far from over. Her smile, compassion, generosity, hope, joy, and playfulness live on in her surviving sister Jane Ann Bernard, sister-in-law Bonnie Evans, three kids (Mike (Sondra), Jennifer, and Rob Romero), four step-kids (David, Adam, and Jake (Colleen) Dean and Donna (Frank) Love), 12 grandkids, three great grandkids, special family friends Jean Plummer and Judy Wells, and many others who will miss her dearly but are forever grateful she was a part of their lives.
