Melvin Waite Obituary
Melvin R. Waite, 90, died peacefully on February 7, 2018. Melvin was born in Elgin, Illinois on February 18, 1927 to Marshall R. Waite and Minnie France Waite. The oldest of four children, he spent his early years in San Diego, California. He joined the Air Force at an early age. When he retired from the air force after 20 years, he began working with the Post Office until he retired again 20 years later.
Melvin met his wife, Dorothy E. Kerr Waite, while he was stationed in Albuquerque during his career in the air force. They married in Albuquerque and lived in Albuquerque since about 1961. Melvin was a devoted father to his sons, Keith and Eric, and his adopted son David.
Melvin was an enthusiastic outdoorsman, loving to explore New Mexico and its many sunny mountains and canyons. He introduced his sons to camping and they have enjoyed camping in their lives to this day.
Melvin will be remembered by his family as the strong and quiet type; enjoying his personal time, loving the outdoors and his time at home.
