Michael Swartz Obituary
Michael L. Swartz, age 58, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2024.
Michael was the second child of four born to Louis and Mary Swartz. He was born on January 6, 1966 and raised in the SE Heights where he attended Bandelier Elementary School, Wilson Middle School, and was a 1984 graduate of Highland High School.
After many years in the banking sector that included an internship in Washington D.C., Michael went on to work for SW Airlines for several years. After his years at SW Airlines, he went on to continue his education at NM Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro and then earned two associate degrees from Central NM Community College - one in Computer Technology, and one in Networking Technology.
Michael spent his later years retired. Michael's pastimes and interests included cooking, tinkering with IT-related tasks; reading; enjoying a glass of wine, or other fine spirits; photography; writing - both stories and jokes; car racing; and was a rock hobbyist.
Michael will be missed dearly and will be remembered for his easy-going manner, friendliness, and compassion towards others in need. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis M. Swartz, and is survived by his mother, Mary G. Swartz, and three siblings - Dr. Cecilia M. Tellez, Paul G. Tellez, Anna T. Swartz, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral mass was held on November 15, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces, NM, and was followed by burial of cremains at Masonic Cemetery where he was placed with his father.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local foodbank and/or homeless shelter.
