Nancy Turpie Obituary

Nancy MacKenzie Turpie

July 3, 1929-

November 28, 2025

Nancy MacKenzie Turpie, a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on November 28, 2025. She was 96 years old.

Born on July 3, 1929, in Seattle, Washington, Nancy lived a life grounded in faith, family, and gratitude. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and love of her life, Hugh; her parents Frederic B. and Blanche MacKenzie; her sister, Margery Campbell; her brother, Brad MacKenzie; and her son-in-law, Bill Candelaria. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she looked forward to the day she would be reunited with them.

Nancy is survived by her four daughters, Lynne Turpie, Anne Turpie, Susan Crum (Alan), and Sarah Turpie (Bill, deceased), as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

A graduate of the University of Washington, Nancy earned her bachelor's degree and was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She treasured her Scottish heritage and celebrated it throughout her life.

Nancy approached each day with enthusiasm and curiosity. She loved playing duplicate bridge, tennis, and golf, and she never missed an opportunity to watch Jeopardy! or cheer on her favorite college football and basketball teams.

On the day before her passing, Nancy expressed with peace and clarity that she was ready to "go home" to be with the friends and family who had gone before herespecially her beloved Hugh. Her grace, warmth, and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her family is grateful for the many beautiful memories she leaves behind and takes comfort in knowing she has returned home at last.
