Nancy Vice Obituary

Nancy Vice

Nancy Gail Vice (nee Hatley) was born July 28, 1940, in Forney, Texas to Lewis and Bessie (Criswell) Hatley. Nancy passed away on January 15, 2026. She graduated from Forney High School in 1958, and attended the University of North Texas where she obtained a BS in Mathematics in 1962. Later that year, she married Gary Edward Vice in Forney. During Gary's military career, Nancy participated in each of her local church's music ministries, playing both piano and organ. While in South Carolina, she also furthered her formal education in music.

Nancy was also a painter who enjoyed painting landscapes and personalizing household objects with her art. In 1984, she and her family settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico permanently. Nancy taught high school and elementary school for 25 years at Hope Christian School until she retired in 2009. Nancy enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and overseas to visit family, friends, and historic locations. She continued to play in her church's music program until 2019. Nancy loved spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren's events, and staying connected with her loved ones around the globe. She was an avid Jeopardy fan, a cruciverbalist, and an Agatha Christie connoisseur.

Nancy is predeceased by her husband of 57 years and her parents. She is survived by her brother Tony and his partner Brad, her son Bryan and his wife Jill, her daughter Jennifer and her husband Jack, her son Brad, and her daughter-in-love Rosa, as well as her eight grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter.

Neil and Mamie Boyd

Neil and Gary grew up in Snyder. Nancy and I grew up in Forney. They introduced us. We were in their wedding, and they were in our wedding. We have visited with them over the years in Albuquerque and Texas. They both
had a special place in our hearts. We were glad we had a visit with Gary before he went to heaven and had a phone visit with Nancy in June around her birthday. She had such strong faith in Jesus; I know she is physically and mentally free from pain now.
Remember all the wonderful time together.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Nancy is a beautiful person and a great musician. We knew her from Hope Christian School. Nancy is a dedicated Christian and teacher. She played the piano for one of my daughter´s wedding and did a beautiful job.
