U.S. Navy Lt. Nicholas T Redeye, (USNR, ret), a Cayuga Iroquois, call sign 'Cayuga One' was a proud and highly decorated Native American, U.S. Navy aircraft carrier based fighter/bomber pilot. The only Native American pilot to achieve 1000+ carrier landings during his combat duty in the Pacific Theater in WWII, and the Korean War. In his Navy career he qualified in multiple aircraft, from Bi-planes to jets. While defending his Beloved U.S.A. After his military career, Nicholas carried his commitment of 'Top Flight Performance' into his 45+ year 'public service' career as Hospital Administrator. During his career Nicholas worked with private, State and Federal agencies, including Public Health Service and Indian Health Service. Upon his retirement from Indian Health Service as Service Unit Director- Puget Sound, Nick and wife Alice moved to Belen, NM. In his private volunteer career, he lived promoted 'Brotherhood, Dignity & Charity', with the 'American Legion', Moose, 'DAV', 'Masons', Scottish Rite Masons', 'York Rite Masons' and 'Shriners Hospitals for Children' as Shriner of 45+ years of giving back to those in need. Nick Redeye is not gone, He's just moved on! God bless you Nick! I was his son in-law for a short period of time. As a Father in-law to me, Nick was welcoming and kind. I am proud and grateful to have known you Nick and I was Blessed to be as close to you as I was.
