Patsy Devejian Obituary

Patsy Eldora Logsdon Devejian

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help"

Pat Devejian passed from this world with beauty and grace on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, after a long bout with lung cancer and related illnesses. She is now in the arms of her Lord. I know you join us in great sadness for our temporary separation and joyful anticipation of our reunion.

Pat was born in Loyall, KY on December 8, 1939, to parents Howard Denney and Dewey Marie Mills Logsdon. When she was five years old the family moved to Benham, a coal mining community in the eastern mountains of Kentucky, where her father worked as an electrician, and where Pat attended grade, elementary, and high school. She graduated cum laude from Benham High School and was a member of both The Beta Club and The National Honor Society. She played clarinet for eight years in the orchestra and marching band and earned three school letters as a cheerleader. She attended Union College in Barbourville, KY, where she earned an associate degree in business and earned a school letter cheering for the Union Bulldogs.

Pat moved to Louisville, KY in 1959. Her first job was for American Air Filter, Co., where she met Greg, who she would marry. In 1961, she became a flight attendant for American Airlines, working for a short time in Chicago, IL. After returning to Louisville, she and Greg continued their relationship and were married in 1962. They were blessed with the birth of two daughters while living and working in Kentucky.

In 1966, the Devejian family moved to Albuquerque, NM. In 1968, they welcomed the birth of their son. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were the joy and meaning of her life. When the three children were in school, Pat spent the majority of her working years in the History Department at the University of New Mexico and later at Sandia National Laboratories.

For fun, Pat painted gourds into Christmas tree ornaments, was an avid reader, and for 55 years she sang barbershop harmony as a member of the Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus. She sang in several award-winning barbershop quartets and made lifelong friends.

For a span of 45 years, she was active at St. Mark's-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church, teaching Sunday school, chairing the wedding reception committee, serving on two search committees, and serving a four-year term as a member of the Vestry. She sang in the church choir. In recent years, she became a member of Hope-on-the-Desert Episcopal Church where she enjoyed a welcoming church family.

After retirement, Pat and Greg enjoyed many years of adventure travel to all parts of the world. Her favorite trips were photography safaris to different parts of Africa and especially trekking gorillas in Uganda.

Pat was a cancer survivor for many years and gave back by working as a volunteer for the American Cancer Center in their gift closet.

Pat was married to Greg for 60 years. She is survived by daughter, Leslie Cosimi and her husband, Mark; grandsons, Reese and his husband, Jonathan, Ryan and his wife, Emma and granddaughter, Riley; daughter, Lynn Roessler and her husband, Keith; granddaughter, Nicolette Casale George and her husband, Andrew and great-granddaughter, Olive; and son, Steven, and his wife, Susie, all of whom she loved and cherished. She is also survived by brother Howard Douglas Logsdon and wife Kelly, and their children and grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cousins who have given her much joy and laughter during her lifetime.

We will all miss her laughing brown eyes, her love of music and song, and the love and joy she radiated whenever we were all together. She was a bridge-builder, a hand-holder, and a perpetual light-bringer. She has influenced all our lives in such a beautiful way. We are better people for having had the honor of calling her our mom.

A memorial service will be held for family only, at Hope-on-the Desert Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name may be made to your favorite charity.

Dear Leslie and Lynn,
My sincere condolences for the loss of your dear mother. Our moms were in Sweet Adeline's together (Charlotte Keeling) and I knew your family well. Not sure if you remember all of us hanging out together when we were kids! Your mom and dad were wonderful people and good friends of my parents. I loved being at your house and spending time together. Wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Sending warm hugs , Dena (Keeling) Gorman

I´m so very sorry to hear of Patsy´s passing and I am sorry for your loss. My Mom (Linda Bryde) sang with your Mom years ago, and she and my Dad (Bob) were good friends with your parents. Patsy was one of a kind and will be truly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom´s illness and your loss. My mother, Ina Rhea Behrens, sang with her as bass in her quartet. In my Mom´s last days, Patsy got the quartet together and came to sing to her... I can´t tell you how much that meant to her and to me. You... we are so fortunate to have had such great women in our lives!
