Richard Marchiondo Obituary

Richard J Marchiondo

Richard Joe Marchiondo, 78, of Raton, America, passed away on December 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 23, 1947, in Raton, NM, to Joe and Millie Marchiondo. He grew up in Raton and called it home for most of his life. Born with a physical disability and undergoing numerous surgeries throughout his childhood, he never let these challenges stop him. He played sports in school, became an avid hunter, worked in the coal mines, coached Little League, and spent weekends at La Mesa Park.

Rick was known to everyone as a hard worker, resilient, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a knack for telling great stories and maintained close friendships from his youth, some of whom he spoke with almost every day. He also shared a special bond with many of his buddies from the racetrack. Rick liked to call himself a "dinosaur" or "hard-headed Italian" both of which were true. However, he was also protective and devoted to his family, reliable and loyal to his friends, and a man of character and principle.

Rick married JaNee Belisle on December 28, 1968, and together they raised five children in Raton. Some of his greatest joys and sources of pride came from them. He loved to tell anyone and everyone how all five of his children went to college and became successful.

Rick is survived by his wife of 57 years, JaNee Marchiondo, and his five children: Jason Marchiondo (wife, Christa), Kecia Valdez (husband, Abe), Tira Marchiondo, Pasquinel Marchiondo (wife, Ayshea), and Zebulun Marchiondo (wife, Kelly). His memory will live on through his twelve grandchildren: Devin, Lucas, Katelyn, Lily, Isabella, Francisco, Sergio, Salicio, Francesca, Santino, Sofia, and Nicodemo. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Thrash (husband, Tommy) and Linda Marchiondo (wife, Sonja), along with many other

family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

A celebration of life will be held in Albuquerque, NM, on January 31, 2026, from 1-5 pm at The Lodge, 3801 Osuna NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people buy lottery tickets or place bets at the racetrack in his memory. Any winnings can be donated to Carrie Tingley Hospital.
