Rita Gensman Obituary

Rita Charlene Gensman

Rita Charlene Gensman was born on September 16, 1945, in Tahlequah, OK, to Elmo and Ella Josephine (Smith) Poff. She graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1963.

After graduation, she moved to Florida with her mother, stepfather Eugene Sweet, and siblings Tom and Rebecca. She found a home in Miami, FL, where she married Michael Aguilera. They had two children Tonia and Eric. Rita and Mike later divorced, and Rita returned to Moore, OK to be close to family. Rita worked as a paralegal in Oklahoma City for many years until she met and married Dennis Gensman.

Rita and Dennis loved casinos and often traveled with her sister Patricia Philliber and her husband Wayne on casino trips. Rita was in poor health for many years, and her passing on December 29, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK released her from suffering.

In her younger years, Rita was a vibrant, energetic, fun loving person who loved her family and family get togethers to share memories, laughter, and magnificent home cooking.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather Eugene in 2004, her mother Josephine, and brother Tom in 2006, and her brother-in-law Wayne in 2010.

She is survived by her husband Dennis Gensman of Altus, OK; her sister Patricia Philliber of Moore, OK; her sister Rebecca Sweet of Albuquerque, NM; her children Tonia Osteen and Eric Aguilera and her grandchildren Trystan J. Osteen, Aryanna E. Aguilera, and Ryan M. Aguilera, all of Florida.

I will remember her to the end if my days. I still have funny and happy memories of her when I was a little child and she babysat me. And fond memories when we stayed with her, Mike, Tonia and Eric while is was getting stationed at Homestead AFB, Fl.
