Ronald Bousek Obituary

Ronald Richard Bousek

Ron passed from our arms to the Everlasting Arms on Friday, March 19, 2021. He was born and grew up in Elyria, Ohio. In 1963 he earned his BS in Physics from Case Institute of Technology and began his Air Force service as a second lieutenant. The Air Force sent him to the US Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA where he earned his MS. He served in Sacramento, CA, and Fairfax, VA. In Tucson, AZ, he earned his PhD at the University of Arizona. He served his last two tours at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque so that his children would not have to move again in their teens.

Ron retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. in 1983, taught physics at UNM, and worked in the field of optics and lasers. He was fascinated by light. He loved looking at the stars since childhood. He was a creative photographer, noticing and recording the effects of light on our world.

All of his life he was learning, always questioning; not to judge, but to understand. For example, in all but the last of his five days in the MICU at UNM hospital, with the rare diagnosis of Giant Cell Myocarditis, he was asking his excellent nurse, Vinny, about the procedures and equipment.

He played cornet and guitar and had a beautiful singing voice. He was warm and good, dependable and kind. He will be missed by his wife of 57 years and 8 months, Grace; his children, Matthew, Mark, Suzanne, and Joanne; their spouses, Lisa, Tanya, and Gabe; grandchildren, Brianna, Aveann, Rachel, Maya, Jaden, and Kevin; his sister, Marilyn; brother, Tom; and his relatives, friends, and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; and by his son-in-law, Steven Paul.

Ron was a lover of us and of God. "No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him."

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021, 11:15 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.

This is a beautiful Obituary. Ron was a warm and good man. I can hear his strong voice and infectious laugh in my mind. Grace, I wish I could be there in person to remember him with you. Praying for all those who love and miss Ron.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I have missed seeing you both since the debacle at the Newman Center and then COVID. He had such a wonderful, kind presence. Please know, Grace, we are here for whatever you need.

Ron and Grace is an entity. I can only imagine what this separation means.
Ron was a friend to all and he asked the most interesting questions. It was such a joy to be in class with both of you. Love
