Victor Martinez Obituary
Victor Martinez, age 95, passed away on May 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eufelia; daughter, Peggy and son,
Armando.
He is survived by his children, Dorothy Martinez, Susie (Mike) Saavedra, Victor Jr. (Lorraine) Martinez and Jeanette (Art) Padilla; nine grandchildren, Gary, Frank (Tess), Michelle, Alicia (Daniel), Ambrosia (David), Michael (Tabatha), Anthony (Lisa), Nicole (Mark) and Josh; nine great-grandchildren, David Jr., Xavier, Analisse, Exavier, Aliana, Mikayla, Autumn, Isaiah, Reina and one on the way.
Victor Martinez was born July 11, 1927 and was raised in Chilili, NM. He married Eufelia Barela on May 8, 1948, then moved to the South Valley in Albuquerque, NM, where he raised his family. He retired from the City of Albuquerque, where he worked for 33 years.
He loved fishing, camping, and occasionally hunting. He enjoyed music, singing, dancing and playing the guitar. His passion in life was Pinon picking with his son, brothers, brother-in-law, and nephews. He was considered the #1 Pinonero. His brother Fimy wrote a song for him called "El Rey Pinonero". He will be missed.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 1st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Strong Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE, Albuquerque, NM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at St Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM immediately following the mass. A reception will follow.
Pallbearers will be Gary Mirabal, Frank Mirabal, Michael Saavedra, Anthony Saavedra, Josh Padilla and Michael Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Martinez, Robert Martinez, Leroy Barela, Anthony Chavez, Andy Martinez and Steve Mora.
