I knew Willie in the early 1960s when we were both stationed on Okinawa. We were lots younger then and somewhat wilder. At the time it was his 2nd tour on the island and we became good friends.

With great heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Billy's family. It is a long time since I saw him or heard from him - but nonetheless, he is remembered and thought of with much love and fondness. My warmest memory is singing with him at his home in Charles City - he was teaching my sister and I a couple of kid songs - that sure made us laugh. And I still have the patch he gave me from his service uniform - it is a gold shield with a horse in one corner and a black bar diagonally. One of my treasures.
