Charlene "Poche" Poche' made my first hard years, indeed all my years, as a teacher at Comeaux High not only bearable but enjoyable. As everyone in the English department there knew, she was the heart and soul of the department around whom we all revolved. She always extended herself in kindness and generosity and with great humor and provided a safe haven, an umbrella, a listening ear, and an understanding and never-ending font of sage advice. I'll never forget her generosity and her kind spirit, and her knack for the hilarious. We laughed a lot back there in her book-lined domain. I was proud to know her and call her my friend. Rest in peace, Poche.
