Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at a 3:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Clarence Charles Arsement, Sr., 89, who died Wednesday, June 8, 2022 who passed peacefully at his home in Rayne, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Rev. Brent Smith, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. A Rosary will be prayed Friday, June 10, 2022 at 12:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Friday June 10, 2022 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen Gossen Arsement; his five sons, Christopher Arsement and his wife, Susie; Robert Arsement and his wife, Janet; Fred Arsement and his wife Rochelle, Stephen Arsement and his wife Ella, Clarence "Chuck" Arsement Jr and his wife Joan and his two daughters, Monica Arsement and Karen Collier and her husband, James; 17 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Arsement and Ezide Robert Arsement of Carencro, LA and five siblings. Clarence was born in Rayne, Louisiana in 1932. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Rayne in 1950. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 during the Korean War and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon his return, he married Helen Gossen of Rayne, LA in November 1956. Clarence was well known in the Rayne community serving as City Clerk of Rayne, insurance agent and part owner of the Sweeney Lalande Agency, president and part owner of the Rayne Plaza Shopping Center and eventually retiring from Rayne State Bank. He was active in the St. Joseph Church community and served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and president of the parish council. He was also active in various social and civic organizations in Rayne including the Rayne American Legion and Lions Club among others. Clarence lived a full life and especially enjoyed spending time with Helen and traveling in their RV. The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who helped make his final years comfortable and peaceful and permitted him to realize his wish of passing peacefully at his home, including his hospice nurse, Jamie, caregivers Kim, Marline and Raylyn and Eva . The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Clarence's daughter, Karen, whose dedication, care and love was instrumental in making his dream of living out his life at home possible. Here is a quote from Clarence that summarizes his life and legacy, "Looking back I feel my fortune is not monetary but my family and friends. My hope is that we all go through life loving God and The Blessed Virgin Mary and each other, and we will all be together for eternity in Heaven."
