Jalil Samir Abushanab

A Funeral Service will be celebrated Friday, June 22, 2018, at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Jalil Samir Abushanab, 29, who passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed on Thursday, June 21, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and resumes Friday, June 22, 2018, at 8:00 am until the time of service, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Father Stephen De Young of Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette, will officiate. Jalil was born March 2, 1989, in Lafayette and was a life-long resident of Acadiana. Jalil, known to many as "Real Deal Jalil", was the owner of Urban Trends in the Northgate Mall in Lafayette for the past 15 years. He had a contagious personality, making you feel welcome and loved the moment you met him. His optimism and love brought joy to many. He had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed time outdoors, shooting sporting clays and kayaking. Jalil's favorite place on earth was "Destin baby". Jalil loved spending time gaming and watching Dragon Ball Z. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his family and friends. Jalil is survived by his father, Samir Abushanab of Lafayette, LA; his mother, Maysoon Dabbain and her husband, Barjas of Lexington, KY; three brothers, Alex Abushanab of Houston, TX, Adam Abushanab of Lafayette, LA and Andrew Dabbain of Lexington, KY; three sisters, Katie Desmarais and her husband, Chris of New York, NY and Nicole and Leah Dabbain, both of Lexington, KY; his paternal grandmother, Arqad Abushanab of Lafayette, LA; his maternal grandparents, Salem and Alise Habash of Lexington, KY and numerous dear aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jalil Abushanab. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service at Mazen Grill, 5818 Johnston Street in Lafayette.
