A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Jon Martin Sudwischer, 82, who died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at 9:48 a.m. at Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings. Fr. Jason Vidrine, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Leger Cemetery in Rayne. Mr. Sudwischer was an Eagle Scout and served in the US Marine Corps from 1956-1962. He owned and operated Crowley Laundry from 1959 until its closing in 1987. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed sharing that love with his sons in law and grandson. After retirement, he devoted himself to volunteer service, at Mrs. Helenýs Soup Kitchen and The Welcome House. He was a devoted father to his three daughters. Mr. Sudwischer is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye David Sudwischer of Crowley; three daughters, Stephanie Vakos and her husband, Mark of Irving, TX, Sharon Stoute and her husband, Dwayne of Scott and Jan Sudwischer of Prosper, TX; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Vernie Hebert Sudwischer; one brother, Tommy Sudwischer. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to, St. Jude Childrenýs Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or the charity of your choice in Mr. Jonýs memory.
