Robert Delahoussaye Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 11:00 AM in St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Robert D. Delahoussaye, 86, who died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Robert was born on February 20, 1935 to J.W. and Therese Martin Delahoussaye. Robert was active in the construction business for many years, serving on several construction boards and committees. He also served on the Chamber of Commerce Board and Diocese Review Board for construction. He was a life-time member of The Kiwanis Club and was named Kiwanian of the year in 1987. Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, Natalie Adams Delahoussaye; six daughters, Deborah Fitch (Lawless), Jamie Futch, Marie Briley, Jodie DeBardeleben, Patrice Frazier (Wayne) and Lisa Landry (George); two sons, Brian Delahoussaye (Elvie) and Jeff Delahoussaye (Glenda); twenty-two grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ada Barry, Jenny Langlinais and Theresa Guidry (Nolan); two brothers, Roland Delahoussaye (Carol) and Patrick Delahoussaye (Roxane); and his sister-in-laws, Lois, Josette, Nellie and Patsy. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. (Pete) and Therese Delahoussaye; his brothers, Tommy, Curtis, Jimmy, J.E., Al, Henri and Michael Delahoussaye; his son-in-law, Harold Futch and his brother-in-laws, Willie Barry and Mabry Langlinais. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home – Bertrand on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, April 15, 2021, from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM, with procession to the church at that time. In keeping with current state-wide COVID-19 mandates, attendees are requested to wear masks and practice social distancing for all service-related activities. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Delahoussaye, Corey Futch, Adam Delahoussaye, Trevor DeBardeleben, Logan Frazier and Brandon Landry. The Delahoussaye Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to his family and friends who visited Robert regulary, to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana and to his caregivers, who provided such excellent care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Affiliated Blind of Lafayette, 409 West St. Mary Boulevard, Lafayette, LA 70506, ATTN: Eileen or to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 300, Lafayette, LA 70503.
