Willie Mae Francis

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Willie Mae Francis, age 74, the former Willie Mae Moore, who passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Our Lady of the Oaks Nursing Home in Lafayette. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Mrs. Francis was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset. She retired from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette as a housekeeper with twenty-seven years of proud service. She was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and an active member of the Ladies Altar Society, Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, and Save Our Community Center. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Francis and his wife, Vernita, of Edwardsville, KS and Reginald Francis of Sunset; one daughter, Yolanda Gilmore and her husband, Ron, of Olathe, KS; two brothers, Charles Edward Moore and his wife, Caroline, and Howard Moore all of Lafayette; two sisters, Leola Mae Williams of Lafayette and Ethel Mae Moore of Opelousas; two grandchildren, Jonita Francis and Brandon Gilmore; one aunt, Victoria Malbrue; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Overton Francis; one daughter, Mary Francis; her parents, Marshall Moore and the former Leola Jean Green, both natives of Sunset; and one brother, Marshall Moore. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
