Jonas Carter Obituary
Jonas Douglas Carter, 22, of Brighton, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August the 13th.
Services will be Monday, August 18, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at River of Life Church, 8850 Hwy 51, Millington, Tennessee, 38053. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Salem ARP Cemetery, Atoka, Tennessee. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
Jonas was born on September 30th, 2002, in Germantown, Tennessee, to William and Amber Carter. He was a 2021 graduate of Millington Central High School. From there he matriculated to Dyersburg State Community College where he earned an Associate's Degree in 2023. After DSCC he enrolled at Tennessee Tech University where he majored in Environmental Science and was due to graduate in 2026. At TTU he was also a cadet in the Reserve Officer Training Corp, and a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard. Some of his educational achievements include but are not limited to: Foreign Language Award (he was fluent in German, French, Spanish, Polish, and Ukrainian), a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a regular member of the Dean's List, a Tennessee Mosaic short fiction award winner, and a published author.
In his personal time, he was an avid outdoorsman who could often be found hiking, fishing, or just exploring nature. He was the youngest member of AMVETs in Tennessee, where he gave freely of his time on service projects helping others. He had a big heart, and he wasn't afraid to stop on any stretch of highway to help a stranded motorist or someone in need. He loved his family and friends deeply and was always there for them.
Jonas was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Susan Marie Lamb and uncle Kirk Douglas Albright. He is survived by his parents William and Amber Carter of Brighton, TN. His siblings: Gavin Carter of Petersburg, VA, Ian (Lauren) Carter of Mena, AR, and Ava Grace Carter of Brighton, TN. Paternal grandparents Paul and Lynda Carter of Atoka, TN and maternal grandparents Don and Vickie Albright of Clinton, IN. Step grandfather Steve Lamb of Brazil, IN. Great-grandmother Trudy Munn of Sierra Vista, AZ. Uncle Aaron (Sarah) Carter of Bartlett, TN and Aunt Heather (Todd) Payton of Greensburg, PA as well as numerous cousins, assorted family members, and friends that he loved dearly.
