Norval Smith Obituary

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Norval Shea Smith was born October 29, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mary Jean and Robert Smith and entered into the presence of Jesus on August 26, 2025. Shea was born in Memphis and raised in Collierville, TN, his beloved hometown. He never had plans to settle down and marry until he met Christie. They were blessed with five beautiful children, one grandchild, and another on the way. Shea and Christie were blessed to watch the godly legacy started by their parents and grandparents continue to flourish through the lives of their children. Shea was a faithful friend and brother to so many, and he had a servant's heart. He was always willing to help others, fix anything, and most importantly build relationships. Christie has said many times that when she met him, he was one of the most Christ-like men she had ever met because of the way he served everyone around him. He served as a deacon at Broadway, but his service was always evident with or without the title. Of all the things that Shea did, his children and grandchildren were his love and passion. Whether it was taking one hunting, boating, or just spending time together, his goal was to be with his loved ones. So many people called him "Uncle Shea" because he was like a second dad to so many of his children's friends. And he always promised to protect his girls, noting that he had a backhoe and thirty acres available if there were ever any boy problems. He had a special way of inserting humor into even the most serious of truths. He had a way of making the complicated practical, and God used his humor and simplicity to bless so many. He was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. He not only served as a deacon, but played drums, worked on the praise team, played guitar, and worked in the sound booth. He had a strong faith in God's word. He was saved in 2001 through the faithful witness of his friend, Dax Carter, who shared with him the good news of the gospel. He loved reading through the Chronological Study Bible, and you could walk into his home on any day and see his Bible and reading glasses on the kitchen table where he had left it that morning. He is survived by his loving wife, Christie, and his five children - Jackson (Britten), Jordan, Jaden, Jevan and JoBeth and two grandchildren, Elliot and another due in October. His parents, Robert and Mary Jean Smith; brothers and sisters: Steve, Scott, Shawn (Jennie), Julie (Bill), Robbie, Craig, Jeannie (Rob), Shannon (Marisa), and Sally (Scott); Brother-in Laws: Stephen (Chelle), and Bubba (Jennifer); Nieces and Nephews: Pete, Becca, Sarah, Anna, Mary, Ellen, Robert, Katie, Richie, Rachel, Kyle, Hunter, Mollie, Mila, Ruth, Claire, Michael, Lauren, David, Maycee, Hudson, Presley, Emerson, Wesley, Ryan, Ty, Tate, Rowdy, Hudson, Tal, Treader, Austen, Colton, Annabeth and Chloe. The family would like to thank their Broadway family for their unwavering support and love. This hard time has been made easier through the body of Christ. Shea would want to remind everyone that our only hope is Christ… in life and death! Praise God. A visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 Noon, all at Broadway Baptist Church. Interment will be at Desoto Memorial Gardens. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church.
