Richard "Dale" Deverell

Richard "Dale" Deverell, 77, of Stanton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born on March 4, 1948, Dale dedicated over 30 years of his life to Texas Gas, where he worked as a pipeline foreman. Known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership and loyalty, Dale built lifelong friendships through his work and community and was a member of the Stanton Church of Christ. Dale loved spending time at his cherished Hatchie Hunting Club where he enjoyed deer hunting, telling stories and sharing laughter with friends. The clubhouse was one of his favorite places to be and he spent countless days there making memories that will be cherished by all who shared them with him. He also had a gift for painting and found joy in watching sports, old westerns and spending time with his family and friends, who meant the world to him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 wonderful years, Jan Deverell. In addition to his wife, he leaves two children, Amy (Kris) White and Greg (Dianna) Deverell, who where his greatest pride. Dale was a proud grandfather to Ryleigh, Kalynn and Koen, who lovingly call him "Day". He was also adored by his great grandchildren, Rain, Beaux, River and Echo. He leaves one sister to mourn his passing, Gail Lerman. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Chester James and Sophia Wright Deverell and four siblings, Amy Hinsley, James Deverell, Joy Yarbro and Larry Deverell. His warmth, humor, faith and love for life will be remembered by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18 at the Covington Funeral Home with interment to follow in Charleston Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and until service time. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and friends.
