Tonya Laurenda Free

Tonya Laurenda Doris Jovetta Naccarato Free, 56, passed away on September 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Until the very end, Tonya remained steadfast in her strength, courage, and bravery.

Tonya was born on February 28, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Doris and Joe Naccarato. In 1989, she graduated from Jett College of Cosmetology and went on to serve others for 36 years as a cosmetologist. She was well known for her skill, but even more so for the unwavering care and compassion she showed to every client and co-worker.

On September 3, 1994, Tonya married the love of her life, Steve, and together they welcomed their daughter, Bre'Anna, on November 10, 1995. As a mother, Tonya was fiercely protective, selfless, wise, and caring. She took pride in motherhood, a reflection of her own mother's influence. She dedicated her life to her family and friends, treating every friend as if they were family. She was the cornerstone of her family, providing strength, stability, and unwavering love and loyalty; she was an anchor, creating a safe harbor for everyone.

She found the most joy in bringing people together, celebrating others with her over-the-top parties, and making sure everyone felt cared for and supported. She loved summers and the warmth of the sun, sitting still and relaxing, being outdoors and camping, everything Jeep-related (especially her Jeep!), hair metal, the mountains, the beach, Mexican food, shopping and shoes, and, most of all, spending time with her family. She will be remembered for not only all of this, but also for her humor, generosity, and down-to-earth nature.

Tonya is survived by her husband, Steve; her daughter, Bre'Anna; her father, Joe; and her siblings, Wally, Cheryl, Joseph, Mike, and Jeff. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends, all of whom she loved and cared for deeply. She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris and her brother, "Little Joe."

Funeral service for Tonya will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Covington Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 6pm until 8pm at Covington Funeral Home.
