William "Possum" Hamm

William (Possum) Neal Hamm, 80, of Hernando, passed away at Baptist DeSoto on May 9, 2025. He was born to the late Clyde and Edna Hamm. Willie graduated from Olive Branch High School and was a long time resident of Hernando. He was a member of Love United Methodist Church. Willie was also a machinist and a co-owner of M&W Machine with his son-in-law Mike McNeill. There wasn't anything he couldn't make out of a piece of metal. Willie is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Bess Dunlap; three brothers, C.B. Hamm, Elmer Hamm, and Sam Hamm. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Martha Hamm; two daughters, Cindy McNeill (Mike), and Patchez Pirtle (Randy); two sons, Robert and James Cook. Also one grandson Kolynn Cook; and two granddaughters, Tara Cook and Sarah Pirtle. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the animal rescue group of your choice.
