Albert Jorgensen Obituary

Life long Alaskan Albert Jorgensen left peacefully for heaven on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, after a long illness at Alaska Native Medical Center Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. Albert was born in Nome, Alaska, on June 17, 1933. As a young boy, his mother, Nora Megganon, passed away and his father, Emil Jorgensen, being older, realized Albert was too much for him to raise. Albert ended up in a children's home operated by Ray and Elenore Cather in the Mat-Su Valley. After graduation from Palmer High School in 1954, Albert joined the Army was honored to an Honorable Discharge in March 1960, of SP4 Artillery. Albert met Myrtle Hughes; they married on July 21, 1960. They had three children Albert, Roger and Kamilla, all born in Juneau, Alaska. Albert and his wife, Myrtle, were members of Assembly of God churches in Juneau and Wasilla and charter members of Palmer, Alaska. Albert retired from working on the North Slope for ARCO and BP. He loved photography and took many beautiful pictures, especially of flowers. He had a great interest in mining and he and his family spent many happy hours at Hatcher Pass, panning for gold. Albert was involved and a member of The Inventors Institute of Alaska. Albert is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of 51 years; his son, Albert with wife Evelyn and her daughter Jamie Wilby with her husband Allen and her children Emilee and Gage of Florence, Ore.; daughter, Kamilla and Ernest Diamond of Wasilla; grandchildren, Angela English and Zachary; and great-grandchildren, Kahri and Lukas; grandson, Richard Powell III; granddaughter, Sondra Powell; great-grandson, Gabriel; and a very long extended family. Albert is preceded in death by his son, Roger Jorgensen. Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Matanuska Assembly of God in Palmer, Alaska, at 7 p.m.

I remember him from when I was a kid. He would just have an infinite amount of patience for us (Kami and I ) Shake his head and laugh. He was so kind, with a quick smile; and although it has been years since I have seen him. I know he will be missed. My condolences to the entire family. May his Memory be Eternal
