Amber M. Hoffman

1979 - 2015

Amber Marie Hoffman, 35, of Ramona, Calif., passed away early in the morning on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at her home in her sleep. Amber, her husband Jerry and their two young children resided at Lewis McChord Military Base in Washington state. Jerry is in the U.S. Army, Combat Engineers, a Specialist, serving within a Sapper Unit. Jerry was deployed to Afghanistan in February 2013, serving eight months there with a Combat Engineering Unit, retuning in October, and they have lived in Washington since. Amber was born on Oct. 21, 1979, in Tacoma, Wash. Amber and her mother, Claudia Lynn Hoffman, moved to the San Diego, Calif., area soon after Amber's birth. They eventually relocated to Ramona, Calif., where she later met her husband, Jerry, a Ramona native. Amber attended Olive Pierce Middle School and Ramona High School. She spent three summers with her grandparents, Claud and Nola Hoffman, in Alaska, as this was where they had lived for several years before finally relocating to Ramona. Amber often referred to Alaska as her second home. Amber worked in Ramona as a caregiver at Hidden Valley Ranch and as a pet groomer at Kathy's Pet Shop, before relocating to Washington, where she lovingly cared for her daughters. Amber was closely attached to her family, enjoyed family gatherings and always had many of her loved ones around. She was always a happy and fun-loving person. She enjoyed teasing and making jokes, often playing good-humored pranks on her friends and family. She loved to travel and on two different occasions traveled to El Dorado Springs, Mo., to visit with her grandparents after they had relocated there. Preceding Amber in death was her first born, Devlin, a son by a previous marriage who passed away as a young infant in October 2004, in Ramona, Calif.; as well as a most loving grandmother, Nola May Hoffman, in Missouri. Survivors include her husband, Jerry; their two daughters, Clover May, almost five years old, and Aspen Joy, one-and-a-half years old; her mother, Claudia Lynn Hoffman Miller and stepfather, Larry Miller of Ramona; a brother, Paul Hoffman and wife, Karina of Ramona; three younger bothers, Jason, Dylan and Mathew Hoffman Miller, of Ramona; stepbrother, Randy Miller and wife, Jessica of Ramona; and stepsister, Kelly Miller VanGelder and husband, Steven of New York; as well as dozens of other family members and friends. She will be missed by all. Public and private Memorial Services for Amber are being planned by family and friends, which will be held in Ramona.
