Bruce Moring Obituary

Bruce Eric Moring Jr., 52, passed away on March 5, 2015, in Hilo, Hawaii. Bruce and Merle Moring welcomed Bruce into this world on April 12, 1962, on the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina. He grew up in a full house with three brothers, Barry, Boyd and Brad, and two sisters, Kim and Amanda. They lived in Florida, Alabama, and Anchorage, Alaska. Bruce was an energetic runner and played football for the Service Cougars. He graduated from Service High School in 1981. He worked at Totem Theaters, with the Anchorage School District and on the North Slope. In 1985, he volunteered with the Anchorage Police Department as a Reservist and was hired on from 1989 until 1995. During his time with APD, he was a Law Enforcement Explorer Leader inspiring many teens and young adults to choose a service with their community. He later moved to Linden, Ala., to continue his service to the community as a police officer for several years. The beautiful island of Hawaii called to him, where he pursued his love of landscaping and Hawaii's relaxed lifestyle. He received awards for his beautiful landscaping work. He loved being a father to his children, Justin, Joseph, Miranda and McCaleab; and his stepchildren, Kathryn Daum and Dean Kriner III. He was looking forward to walking his daughter, Miranda, down the aisle at her wedding in the summer of 2016. Bruce was survived by his parents, Merle and Bruce Moring of Woodinville, Wash.; his children, Justin Moring of Chicago, Ill. and Joseph Moring of Wichita, Kan.; and their mother, Kathy Aldrich of Rockton, Ill.; Miranda and McCaleab Moring and their mother, Virginia Moring, all of Anchorage, Alaska; his stepchildren, Dean Kriner III of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kathryn Daum of Sitka, Alaska; his five grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Kim Moring of Woodinville, Wash., Barry (DeeDee) Moring of Anchorage, Alaska, Boyd (Colette) Moring of Anchorage, Alaska, Brad (Kim) Moring of Allen, Texas, and Amanda (Edward) Perez of Summerville, S.C.; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, BlackBear. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2015, at the Abbott Loop Community Church at 2 p.m. The family asks that all attendees wear bright colorful clothing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Abbott Loop Community Church or the American Heart Society.
