Campbell Mckellar Obituary

The world is already a different place without the presence of Campbell Kirk "CK" McKellar among us. After struggling with serious medical issues over several years, CK passed away on May 1st in Anchorage, Alaska. Always prepared with a welcoming smile and a joke at-the-ready, CK never met a stranger and enjoyed the company of all.

Born in Colorado to loving parents Campbell and Mirta McKellar, CK spent most of his life in Las Vegas, Nevada. He held a variety of jobs including bar-tending at Caesars Palace. After moving to Alaska in 2000 he lived in Anchorage and Meadow Lakes. During this time he worked for the Nine Star Mast Program and was founder and executive director of the Vet City charity.

Always positive, his exuberant personality and zest for life in the face of challenge was obvious. In spite of his ongoing health challenges, CK inspirationally shared and followed his dreams.

CK leaves behind his son Ian McKellar of San Bruno California; his grandchildren Gabrielle and Christopher; sisters Luisa Burrows and Bonnie Bell Walker; brother-in-law Richard Burrows, and many friends and acquaintances. He will be especially missed by his beloved dog Sophia.

For friends who are interested in talking about CK please contact [email protected]. CK will be return to the lower 48 with his son Ian and be laid to rest with his family in San Bruno, California.

Wow my friend was a looker. I'll never forget the first time I saw him at the Brewery in Las Vegas. It was a disco. There on the stairs leading down to the dance floor he stood. He was dressed in threads spun on the looms of the gods. He wore a three piece black suit and tie. He was gorgeous! As I passed him, he grabbed me and said "I'm a photographer and I'm going to make you a star". What a line, what crock, but in all his gory I didn't want to steal his moment. We became friends, life long friends. CK McKellar went on to organize Bannerkids.org. He called me and from ground zero up we created a site for missing and exploited children. Working hand in hand with government agencies CK helped in the recovery of several children. It was a joy to be the Public Information Officer for Bannerkids. We went to several school logging crucial information of children in the event they were ever abducted. CK believed more in PREVENTION then anything else and spoke to the students on this issue. What a rewarding part of my life it was being part of this plight. Thank you buddy. Gee whiz how time flies.
I LOVE YOU YESTERDAY, TODAY AND ALWAYS. Na Na
