Carl Bowie Obituary

Carl Richard Bowie Jr. was born on Nov. 5, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, to Rosaline Ann and Carl Richard Bowie Sr. and died on Jan. 28, 2018.
He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend. He attended West Anchorage High School, where he excelled in wrestling and football. He attended AVTEC and worked on the North Slope for years. He was an extremely adept scrimshaw artist and ivory carver. Carl had a natural and unbridled talent and personally cut and built a custom rolling arch picket fence for his mother that was absolutely beautiful. His love for his mother was immeasurable.
Carl had incredible love, adoration and pride for his two sons: Carl and Jacq. The spirit of love Carl held in his heart for his two sons was an unconditional, deep, never ending, forever love. He had two grandchildren, Katelyn and Ethan, who also held a very special place in his heart. He really truly loved his nephew and nieces as well.
Carl was an avid fisherman. He won the first annual Fish Creek Salmon Derby. Carl loved to cook holiday dinners with his family and barbecue with his friends in the summer.
He was a compassionate and fiercely loyal family man and friend.
He found a special way to connect with and be loved by each of his family members and friends and was truly loved by so many. His memory will live on and he most certainly will always be loved and never be forgotten.
He is survived by his mother, Rose Patterson; son, Jacq Ross Bowie; sisters and brother-in-law, Cheryl Bowie and Misty and Danny Cartes; and nephew and nieces, John Michael, Kealaunie, Brooklyn and Trinity. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Richard Bowie Sr.; brother, Charles James Bowie; and son, Carl Richard Bowie III.
He will be cremated and placed with his son in the columbarium at Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage, Alaska.

What a nice tribute to a good man and son to mother Rose.
I remember the couple in Kotzebue and Fairbanks and Auntie Misty's great letter after the other tragedy.
I almost stopped by to shovel snow and hug you all. My deepest condolences.
